The 2nd Conditional and Giving Advice to clients.When suggesting a course of action for a client, it»s necessary to be very polite; because nobody likes being told what to do!! The correct use of the second conditional can be very useful for this.
Examples:
!) If I were you I wouldn»t put pressure on the other side. They will pay up in their own time.
Si yo fuera tu, no presionaria a la otra parte, pagaran cuando tengan que pagar.
2) Were we to make a claim in the High Court we would be likely to lose.
Si demandasemos en el tribunal superior, lo mas probable es que perderiamos.
3) Had you advised me earlier regarding this claim we would not have been out of time.
Si me hubieses contactado anteriormente acerca de esta demanda, no hubiesemos quedado fuera de plazo.
